About stUSPD
stUSPD is a liquid staking token that allows you to earn yield on your USPD holdings. When you stake USPD, you receive stUSPD shares that represent your stake in the protocol and automatically accrue value over time.
How It Works
- Stake USPD: Deposit your USPD tokens into the stUSPD contract
- Receive stUSPD: Get stUSPD shares based on the current share value
- Earn Yield: Your stUSPD shares automatically grow in value at a fixed APY
- Unstake Anytime: Redeem your stUSPD for the underlying stETH collateral
Key Features
- Fixed APY: Guaranteed constant yield rate on your staked USPD
- Liquid Staking: stUSPD tokens are transferable ERC-20 tokens
- stETH Backing: The underlying collateral is stETH, which generates Ethereum staking rewards
- Price-Based Accounting: The system properly accounts for collateral based on current ETH/USD prices
Understanding Collateral
The stUSPD protocol uses a stabilizer NFT system to manage collateral:
- Free Collateral: stETH available in the StabilizerEscrow, immediately available for withdrawals
- Locked Collateral: stETH allocated to the PositionEscrow backing newly minted USPD at 150% collateralization ratio
When users mint new USPD using stUSPD’s collateral, some stETH moves from “free” to “locked” status. The locked collateral still belongs to stUSPD stakers but may require waiting for reallocation or burning USPD to become available for withdrawal.
Important Considerations
stUSPD provides higher yields but carries additional risk:
- Liquidity Risk: During high utilization, exiting your position may require purchasing USPD from the market
- Collateral Lockup: Your underlying stETH may be temporarily locked when used to collateralize new USPD minting
- Market Risk: You may need to buy USPD at a premium to free up locked collateral
Only stake amounts you can afford to have locked temporarily. The protocol is designed for long-term stakers who want to earn yield on their USPD holdings.
